Council approved the amended Town Social Media Policy. Copy can be viewed on the Town website.

Council approved a request on behalf of Mr. Steve Wall to abandon the alley adjacent to his property at 127 North Street, the property previously used as Wells Fargo drive-thru, now owned by Matt King (LU Two, LLC) and the Hotel Weyanoke, LLC.

Council authorized advertisement of a public hearing for the request on behalf of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Martin for a Conditional Use Permit.

Council approved the reappointment of Mrs. Pattie Cooper-Jones and Mr. Gary Atkins to the Local Building Official Board.

Council accepted the recommendation of the Town Property Committee and approved authorizing the Town Manager to enter into a Use Agreement with Precision Cell to place communication antennas on the Andrews Drive Water Tank.

Council accepted the recommendation of the Infrastructure Committee and agreed to enter into a lease agreement with Third Street Brewery to lease the Brewery eight parking spaces at $25.00 per space, per month for a period of one (1) year.

Council approved authorizing the Town Manager to establish the fee for the temporary out-of-town water and sewer connections for Lapp Associates, LLC and Rock and Metal, LLC at $10,000 for each property owner, with each property owner paying all costs associated with making the taps and both locations paying out-of-town water and sewer rates.

Council authorized the Town Manager and Town Treasurer to sign a Letter of Engagement with Creedle, Jones & Alga for Auditing Services for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2018.

Council approved offering the Piedmont Area Veteran Council the use of the house located at 820 Longwood Avenue, next to the Public Works building.

Council continued the following items pending recommendations from Committees and/or additional information:

  • The matter of updating the Town’s Comp Plan, Zoning Ordinances and Subdivision Ordinances pending recommendations from the Finance and Ordinance Committee.
  • Council authorized advertisement of a public hearing for the proposed 2018-2019 Town Budget and amending water and sewer rate.
  • Council authorized advertisement seeking citizen volunteer applicants to fill the vacant positions on the Local Building Official Board and Central Virginia Regional Library Board.
  • Request on behalf of Mrs. Frankie Todt for a conditional use permit to operate a home occupation, was referred to the Planning Commission for a public hearing and recommendations.
