The most recent meeting of Town Council occurred Wednesday, May 10th at 7 p.m. in the Council Chamber of the Town Hall. The following actions resulted from the meeting:
The Town has vacancies on the Local Building Official Board, the Farmville Industrial Development Authority and the Central VA Regional Library Board. The Personnel Committee will review and approve applications for these board positions and report at the next meeting.
A conditional use permit requested on behalf of Mark and Laura French was approved with no conditions.
A public hearing will be held on June 14th, 2017 at 6:30 p.m. for the purpose of hearing citizens’ comments on the conditional use permit requested on behalf of Richard Bratcher.
A request to amend the Town of Farmville employee handbook was approved; the policy change specifies that any employee who is called in to work over time will receive a minimum of two-hour compensation (does not include the person on-call).
A request to amend Farmville Planning Commission Ordinance No. 183 Chapter 20 Planning, Section 28-28 Members Appointment was approved. The ordinance change specifies that the Planning Commission’s make up will mirror that of Town Council, which includes five wards and two at-large positions.
Request for 3% ($1500) increase in library funding was included in the proposed budget.
Request on behalf of Farmville Downtown Partnership to continue funding was included in the proposed budget.
A public hearing will be held on June 14, 2017 at 6:30 p.m. on Ordinance No. 182, to extend the rebates on new residential and commercial water and/or sewer connections within the corporate limits of the Town of Farmville.
A public hearing will be held on June 14, 2017 at 6:30 p.m. regarding a request for authorization of Ordinance No. 183, to allow open burning in certain areas of Town with a permit from the Fire Department.
A public hearing on the proposed 2017-2018 Town Budget will be held on June 14, 2017 at 6:30 p.m.
