The most recent meeting of Town Council occurred Wednesday, July 12th at 7 p.m. in the Council Chamber of the Town Hall. The following actions resulted from the meeting:
A request to abandon unopened street right of way was continued to the next Town Council meeting.
A request to adopt Ordinance #184, permitting open burning, was approved.
A request for zoning amendment to Residential District R-3 was referred to the Farmville Planning Commission.
A request for adoption of resolution approving the FIDA issuance of Revenue Bonds was approved.
A request to block off a portion of Hill Street for a cookout was approved.
A request for approval of annual appointments was approved with specifications. Appointments are as follows: Gerald Spates, Town Manager; Andy Ellington, Chief of Police; Carol Anne Seal, Treasurer; Gary Elder, Town Attorney; Lisa Hricko, Clerk of Council; Lisa Hricko, Equal Opportunity Counselor/ADA Coordinator; Philip Moore, Building Official; Philip Moore, Fire Marshal.
A request for Council’s support in the appointment of Dean Farmer as Fire Chief was approved.
A request for authorization to advertise 2017-2018 Town Council meeting dates was approved.
A request for support of Mayor’s 2017-2018 Committees was approved. Standing committees and specific committees will remain the same as last year.
A request for the adoption of Code of Ethics and Ethics Pledge was approved.
