Establishing a Water/Sewer Account

All new customers will need to complete one of the following New Customer Water and Sewer Form (PDF) and provide a photo ID, such as a Driver's license. When completing the form, please be sure to list a phone number where you can be reached. The completed form may be returned by fax to 434-392-6135, by email to finance@FarmvilleVA.com, by mail to P.O. Drawer 368, Farmville, VA 23901, or in-person to the Town of Farmville Treasurer's Office at 116 North Main Street, Farmville, VA 23901.

Deposits on Water

Customers who are renting will need to make a deposit in order to establish a water and sewer account. Residential deposits are as follows:

In town deposit amount: $100
Outside the town deposit amount: $150
Commercial customers' deposits will be on the basis of the Treasurer's estimates of projected use.

Discontinuing Service

When discontinuing water and sewer service, the customer should complete a Final Bill Request Form. The completed form should be returned to the Treasurer's Office by noon of any regular business day if discontinuation of service is desired on the same day. When completing the form, please be sure to list a phone number and a forwarding address where you can be reached. Customer Adjustments:

Customer adjustments will be processed in accordance with Adjustment Policy 2.40. In order to submit a request for an adjustment, we must receive the Application for Consumer Adjustment  and a written request that must contain a description of the cause and location of the leak and include an original signature on the request. To assist with the processing of the adjustment, we request supporting documentation such as a plumber invoice, parts list showing repairs purchased, photos of the cause of the leak and/or photos of the work done.

General Account Information

Water and sewer bills are mailed every month. Payment in full is due by the 20th of each month. A penalty in the amount of 10% of the balance will be added if payment is not made by the 20th. The rate schedule is as follows:

First 1,500 gallons - $12.29 flat fee
Over 1,501 gallons to 10,000 gallons $4.68 per 1,000 gallons
Over 10,001 gallons $6.25 per 1,000 gallons
Sewer is 120% of Water Charge

Out of Town Water and Sewer Rates


First 1,500 gallons - $17.94 flat fee
Over 1,501 gallons to 10,000 gallons - $6.52 per 1,000 gallons
Over 10,0001 gallons to 500,000 gallons - $8.88 per 1,000 gallons
Over 500,0001 gallons - $8.35 per 1,000 gallons
Sewer is 120% of Water Charge

Sanitation Fee

A $11 monthly sanitation fee is added to utility bills for in-town residents. If a resident does not have an active utility bill, the $11 fee is charged separately.

Charge for Sewer Only

If a customer living within the town limits has sewer only and no water connection, the monthly charge is $28.62. For customers living outside the town limits, the monthly charge is $42.93.

Water & Sewer Connections

All water and sewer permits are issued at the Treasurer's Office prior to installation. The fees below are not assumed to be correct and should be considered as a starting point when hooking up to the Town water and sewer.

In Town: 

Residential, 3/4" tap, per unit is $4,000.00

Commercial/industrial: 3/4" tap, per unit is $4,500.00 plus cost of labor, materials and equipment to make tap.

All taps over 3/4"x size of tap are $4,500.00 plus $4,500.00 in excess of one (1) plus cost of labor, materials and equipment to make tap.

Yard, 5/8" tap if connected to existing service line is $650.00, or if connected to main is $3,500.00
 

Out of Town:

Residential, 3/4" tap, per unit is $6,000.00

Commercial/industrial: 3/4" tap, per unit is $7,500.00 plus cost of labor, materials and equipment to make tap.

All taps over 3/4"x size of tap are $11,500.00 plus $7,500.00 in excess of one (1) plus cost of labor, materials and equipment to make tap.

Yard, 5/8" tap if connected to existing service line is $2,500.00, or if connected to main is $6,000.00
