Biography

Donald L. Hunter has served on the town council since July 2004. Born in New York, Hunter came to Farmville in 1984. He received his Associate's Degree in Criminal Justice from Kaplan University.

Hunter helped organize the town's recreation department. Hunter believes local youth need structured activities in order to grow into well-rounded individuals. The Farmville Recreation Department now offers summer day camps, fitness, and movement programs, and martial arts classes. Hunter's experience in law enforcement provides professional insight on public safety issues. To be more accessible to residents in Ward D, he holds regular town hall meetings.

Hunter is president of the Farmville Volunteer Fire Department, a member of the Smoove Rydaz Motorcycle Club, and is a retired Jail Administrator.
