The Town of Farmville, in conjunction with the Virginia Department of Rail and Public Transportation and Longwood University, provides a fixed-route transit service 7 days a week. The Farmville Area Bus provides service utilizing two in-town routes.

The Farmville Area Bus also operates the Prince Edward County Transit (PERT). PERT serves the Meherrin/Green Bay and Prospect/Pamplin areas on alternating weekdays. Fares for this line is $1 each way.

Regular fare for all lines, except PERT, is $0.25; however, children under 6 and senior citizens (60 and over) ride free. Longwood University students ride for free by showing their student ID when boarding. Their fares are paid through student fees at the University.

Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Paratransit Van Service

The Farmville Area Bus is proud to also offer ADA Paratransit Van Service. The fare for this service is $0.50. The Service provides accessible public transportation throughout the Town and the Paratransit operators will provide door-to-door assistance for handicap individuals. Title VI requires that no person in the United States of America shall, on the grounds of race, color, or national origin, be excluded from the participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be otherwise subjected to discrimination under any program or activity for which Farmville Area Bus receives Federal financial assistance.
