Last Stand: The Civil War Comes to Farmville

Before Appomattox, there was Farmville. Still reeling from the Battle of Sailors Creek, General Robert E. Lee and his men in gray moved westward to this town in the Heart of Virginia to be ready for the last stand against the forces of General Ulysses S. Grant. Click here for more information. Farmville Community Marketplace

The Farmville Community Marketplace is located in downtown Farmville at 213 North Street and will be the perfect place to pick up locally grown fruits and vegetables, meats, homebaked goods, handcrafted goods and more. The Marketplace will operate on Saturdays, rain or shine, April 25th through October; Hours of operation are 9:00 am to 1:00 pm.

Local vendors are welcomed. For more information on becoming a vendor at the Farmville Community Marketplace, please contact the Town of Farmville Treasurer's Office at 434-392-3333. For more information on the rules and regulations of the Marketplace, click here


  • There will be a Farmville Planning Commission meeting on Tuesday, March 31,2015 at 4:00 PM at the Farmville Town Hall in the Town Manager's conference room.
  • In observance of Easter, the Town of Farmville Town Offices, Public Works Department, Police Department Administration Offices, and Farmville Area Bus (FAB) Administration Offices will be closed on Monday, April 6, 2015.  All offices will resume normal business hours on Tuesday, April 7th.

    Garbage Route Change for Easter Monday
  • The regular Town Council Meeting will be held on Wednesday, April 8, 2015, at 7:00 p.m., in the Council Chamber on the second floor of the Farmville Town Hall, at 116 North Main Street, Farmville, Virginia. Town Council members gather for dinner in the Town Manager's Conference Room at 5:30 p.m., prior to each regularly scheduled Council meeting.     The Regular Council Work Sessions are held the first Wednesday of each month at 11:00 a.m., in the Town Manager's Conference Room.
